Reading from the Gospel, Wednesday, November 4 (click here)

   Wednesday, November 4
Gospel (Lk 14, 25-33): At that time, many people walked with Jesus, and he turned and said to them, "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father, his mother, his wife, his children , brothers, sisters and even his own life, he can not be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his cross and come after me can not be my disciple.

"For which of you, desiring to build a tower does not first sit down and calculate the cost, to see if you have to finish it? Lest, having laid the foundations and unable to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, 'This man began to build and could not finish. " Or what king, going to war against another king, does not first sit down and consider whether with ten thousand can go to the step that comes against him with twenty thousand? And when it is still far, if not, sends a delegation to ask for terms of peace. So likewise, whoever of you does not renounce all his possessions can not be my disciple. "
