Gospel reading today, Saturday November 21 (click here)

  Saturday, 21 November
Gospel of the day (Luke 20, 27-40): At that time, approaching Jesus some Sadducees, those who say there is no resurrection, asked him, "Teacher, Moses wrote that we if a man's brother dies, he was married and had no children, his brother should take the wife and raise up seed to his brother. There were seven brothers; the first took a wife, died childless; and he took the second, then the third; likewise the seven also died childless. Finally, the woman also died. This, then, of which of them will be women in the resurrection? For the seven they had her to wife. "

Jesus said, "The children of this world take wives and husbands; but those who are judged worthy of a place in the world and the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, nor can they die because they are like angels and are children of God, being sons of the Resurrection. Now that the dead are raised, even Moses showed it in the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. It is not a God of the dead but of the living, for all live to him. "

Some of the scribes said, "Teacher, you have spoken well." They no longer dared to ask him anything.
