Reading from the Gospel, Tuesday, August 4 (click here)

Liturgical Day: Tuesday August 4
Gospel (Mt 14, 22-36): In those days, when people had eaten, Jesus obliged the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. After firing people, he went up the mountain by himself to pray; the evening it was just there.

The boat was already far many stadiums land, buffeted by the waves, for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea. The disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying: "It's a ghost," and fear they cried. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying "Cheer up !, I am; Fear not. " Peter answered, "Lord, if it be thou, bid me come to you on the waters." "Come!" He said. So Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the waters to come to Jesus. But, seeing the violence of the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!". When Jesus reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him: "Man of little faith, why did you doubt?". They got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God."

After the crossing, they came to land at Gennesaret. The men of the place, barely recognized him, sent into all that land and had all sick. They asked him to touch even the fringe of his garment; and as many as touched it were saved.
