Reading from the Gospel, Sunday August 2 (click here)

Liturgical day: Sunday August 2
Gospel (Jn 6, 24-35): At that time, when people saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, they got into boats and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus. When they found him on the shore of the sea, they said, "Rabbi, when did you get here?". Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek me, not because you saw signs but because you ate the loaves and were filled. Do not work for food that perishes but for the food which endures to eternal life, which will give the Son of Man, because he is the one the Father, God, has set his seal. "

They said: "What shall we do to work the works of God?". Jesus answered, "The work of God is to believe in him whom he has sent." So they said, "What sign do you do to see and believe in you? What can you do? Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, as it is written, 'gave them bread from heaven to eat.' " Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven; For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. " Then they said, "Lord, give us this bread always." Jesus said: "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. "
