Reading from the Gospel, Saturday July 25 (click here)

Liturgical day: Saturday July 25. Feast of St. James, patron of Spain
Gospel (Mt 20, 20-28): At that time, Jesus approached the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her sons, and knelt to ask something. He said, "What do you want?". She said to him, "Command that these two sons of mine may sit, one at your right and one at your left, in your kingdom." Jesus replied: "You know not what you ask. Can you drink the cup that I drink? ". They say to him: "Yes, we can." He said to them, "My cup will drink; but to sit at my right or my left is not mine to give but is for whom it is prepared by my Father. "

When the ten heard this, they became indignant at the two brothers. But Jesus called them and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it as the master, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It must not be so among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave; in the same way that the Son of Man has come to be served but to serve and give his life a ransom for many. "

Your brother in Christ, Father Santiago
