Liturgical Day: Monday June 29
Gospel (Mt 16, 13-19): At that time Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do men say that the Son of man am?". They said, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets. " He said to them, "But who do you say I am?". Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed this flesh and blood, but my Father who is in heaven. And I in turn tell you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. "
