Reading from the Gospel, Friday May 29 (click here)

Liturgical day: Friday May 29
Gospel (Mk 11, 11-25): At that time, after the people had acclaimed Jesus entered Jerusalem, in the Temple. And after looking around at everything, it being now evening, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.

The next day, they went out of Bethany, he was hungry. And seeing from afar a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it; he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; It is that it was not the season for figs. Then he said: "Let no one ever eat fruit from you." And his disciples heard it.

They come to Jerusalem; and he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and those who bought in the temple; He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, and would not allow anyone to carry things through the temple. And he taught them, saying: "Is it not written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations?' But you have made it a den of thieves.!". They learned that the chief priests and scribes and sought how they might kill him; for they feared him, because all the people were astonished at his doctrine. And at sunset, he went out of town.

Passing the morning, they saw the fig tree that was dry to the roots. Peter, remembering, said to him, "Rabbi, look !, the fig tree is cursed has withered." Jesus answered them, "Have faith in God. I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that will happen what it says, will get it. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have already received and it will be yours. And when you set yourself up to pray, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. "
