Reading the Holy Gospel, Sunday August 21 (click here)

 Sunday August 21
Daily Gospel (Lk 13, 22-30): At that time Jesus went through towns and villages teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem. One said, "Lord, are there few that be saved?". He said, "Strive to enter through the narrow door, because, I tell you, many will seek to enter and not be able to. When the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will those of you out to knock on the door, saying, 'Lord, open to us.' And I will answer: 'I do not know where you come from.' Then you begin to say, 'We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets'; and He will say: 'I do not know where you are. Depart from me, all workers of iniquity. ' There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. And they will come from east and west, north and south, and will recline in the kingdom of God. And some are last who will be first, and first who will be last. "
