Reading the Holy Gospel, Domingo March 20 (click here)

 Palm Sunday, March 20
Daily Gospel (Lk 22, 14 to 23.56): When the time came, Jesus sat with his disciples, and said: "I have greatly desired to eat this Passover meal with you before I suffer, for I tell you no longer I will eat until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God. " And he took a cup, gave thanks and said, "Take this, I divide it among yourselves; For I tell you I will not drink from henceforth of the fruit of the vine until the Kingdom of God to come. "

And he took bread, gave thanks; He broke it and gave it saying, "This is my body which is given for you; Do this in remembrance of me". After dinner, he did the same with the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you. But look: the hand that betrays me is with mine on the table. For the Son of Man is going as established; but woe to that that delivery!. "

They began to ask one another which of them could be the one who would do that. The disciples began to argue about which of them should be taken as the first. Jesus said, "The kings of the Gentiles dominate them and those who exercise authority are called benefactors. You do not do so, but first among you behave yourself as the youngest, and governing, as one who serves. For who it is, who is at the table or the one who serves truth ?, which is on the table? For I am among you as one who serves. You are those who have stood by me in my trials, and I will convey the Kingdom as I relayed my Father to me: eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones to govern the twelve tribes of Israel " .

He added: "Simon, Simon, Satan has demanded to sift you as wheat. But I have asked for you that your faith may not turn off. And you, when you recover, gives strength to your brothers. " He replied, "Lord, with you I am willing to go even, prison and death." Jesus replied, "I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today before you have denied three times know."

And he said to all: "When I sent you without purse or bag or sandals, did you lack anything?". They answered: "Nothing." He added: "But now, whoever has the catch bag, and so the saddlebag; and he that hath no sword sell his mantle and buy one. Because I assure you that must be fulfilled in me what is written: 'He was numbered with the evil-doers'. What concerns me is at an end. " They said, "Lord, here are two swords." He replied, "Enough."

And Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him. Once at the site, they said, "Pray not to fall into temptation." He ripped them away like a stone's throw and knelt down and prayed, "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. But not my will, but thine be done. " And there appeared an angel from heaven, strengthening him. In the midst of his anguish he prayed more earnestly. And the sweat drips down like blood, to the ground. And, rising from prayer, he went to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow, and said, "Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray, not to fall into temptation. "

He was still talking when people appear: and guided them called Judas, one of the Twelve. And he came to kiss Jesus. Jesus said, "Judas, with a kiss betray the Son of Man?". Realizing that were with him what would happen, they said, "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?". And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. Jesus spoke saying, "Leave him, enough." And touching his ear, he healed. Jesus said to the chief priests and the officers of the temple and elders who had come against him, "Have you come out with swords and clubs chasing a bandit? Every day I was in the temple with you, and I did not lay a hand. But this is your hour: the power of darkness. "

They arrested him, took him and made him into the house of the high priest. Peter followed him from afar. They lit a fire in the yard, they sat around and Peter sat among them. Seeing a maid sitting by the fire, she looked at him and said, "This man also was with him." But he denied it saying, "I do not know him, woman." Shortly after I saw him and said, "You also are one of them." Peter replied, "Man, I am not." Last about an hour, another insisted, "Certainly, this also was with him, because he is a Galilean." Peter replied, "Man, I know what you mean." And he was still talking when the cock crowed. The Lord turned and glanced at Peter, and Peter remembered the word the Lord had told him: "Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times." And he went out and wept bitterly.

And the men holding Jesus mocked him hitting him. And, covering his face, they asked him, "Prophesy: Who hit you?". And hurled against him many other insults.

When it was day, the Senate met the people, that is, chief priests and scribes, and making him appear before the Sanhedrin, he said: "If you are the Messiah, tell us." He replied, "If I tell you, you not going to believe; and if I ask not you going to answer me. From now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right of Almighty God. " They all said, "So you are the Son of God?". He replied, "You say I am what." They said, "What need have we of witnesses? We ourselves have heard from his mouth. "

The Senate of the people is, chief priests and scribes, rose and brought Jesus before Pilate. And they began to accuse him saying, "We have found that this anda stirring up our nation, and to oppose paid tribute to Caesar, and saying that he is the Messiah King." Pilate asked Jesus, "Are you the King of the Jews?". He replied, "Thou sayest." Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, "I find no fault in this man." They insisted more strongly, saying, "He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, from Galilee to here." Pilate heard it, asked if there was a Galilean; and upon learning it was Herod's jurisdiction was forwarded. Herod was precisely in Jerusalem in those days.

When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad; quite some time because I wanted to see it, because I heard about him and hoped to see him do some miracle. He made a lengthy interrogation; but He did not answer a word. There were the high priests and lawyers accusing him hard. Herod, with his escort, treated him with contempt and mocked him; and he set him a white robe, sent him to Pilate. That same day Herod and Pilate friends did, because before they got on very badly.

Pilate called together the chief priests, the authorities and the people, said, "You brought me this man, claiming that misleading the people; and it turns out I have questioned him before you, and have not found this man guilty of any of that imputáis him; nor Herod either, because we forwarded it: you see that nothing worthy of death have been proved. So I'll chastise him and release him. " For the party had to turn them loose one. They thundered mass saying, "Out that! Release to us Barabbas. " To him they had put in prison for a riot that occurred in the city and murder. Again Pilate addressed them with intent to release Jesus. But they shouted, "Crucify him, crucify him!". He said to them the third time, "Why, what evil has he done? I have not found in him. no crime deserving death. So I give him a lesson and release him. " They pressed upon him crying out to crucify him; and he was growing crying. Pilate decided that their request was fulfilled, he released the asking him (who was thrown into prison for insurrection and murder), and Jesus gave him to his discretion.

As he drove, they seized one Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country, and on him the cross to carry it behind Jesus. She followed him a great multitude of the people, and of women who bewailed and lamented him Jesus turned to them and said to them. "Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children, for behold that one day they will say, 'Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that have not given birth and breasts that have not bred'. Then they begin to say to the mountains, 'Fall on us,' and to the hills, 'Cover us'; because if they do this when the wood is green, what will happen to the dry? ".

also they led two other criminals to execute them with him. And when they came to the place called "The Skull", they crucified him there, to Him and the criminals, one on the right and one on the left. Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." And their clothes, throwing them by lot divided. The people stood watching. The authorities grimacing saying, "He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Messiah of God, the Chosen One. " He also taunted the soldiers, offering him vinegar, and saying, "If thou be the king of the Jews, save yourself." There were over a sign in Greek, Latin and Hebrew writing: "This is the king of the Jews."

One of the criminals hanging there reviled saying, "Are not you the Messiah? Save yourself and us. " But the other rebuked him: "Do not you even fear God, being in the same condemnation? And ours is just, because we receive payment for what we did; however, it has done nothing wrong. " And he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." Jesus answered, "I assure you, today you will be with me in Paradise."

It was now about noon and darkness came over the whole land until mid-afternoon; because the sun was darkened. The veil of the temple was torn in two. And Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit." And I said, expired.

The centurion saw what had happened, gave glory to God, saying, "Truly, this man was innocent." The whole crowd who had come to this show, having seen what happened, returned beating their breasts. All his acquaintances kept their distance, and the same women who had followed him from Galilee and were watching.

A man named Joseph, who was a senator, good man and honest (who had not voted in favor of the decision and the crime of them), who was a native of Arimathea and was awaiting the kingdom of God, went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. And, moving it down, he wrapped it in a blanket and placed in a tomb carved into the rock, where they had not put anyone yet. It was the day of Preparation and verged on Saturday. Women who had accompanied him from Galilee went after examining the tomb and how his body placed. On the way back they prepared spices and ointments. And they kept the Sabbath rest, according to the commandment.
