Gospel Reading, Monday, March 21 (click here)

 Monday, March 21
Gospel of the day (Jn 12, 1-11): Six days before the Passover, Jesus went to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. They gave a dinner there. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those who were with him at the table.

Then Mary, taking a pound of ointment of pure nard, very costly, he anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair. And the house was filled with the smell of perfume. Judas Iscariot, one of the disciples, who had to deliver it says: "Why has not this ointment sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?". But he did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief, and had the bag, he carried what was put into it. Jesus said, "Leave her alone, you keep it for the day of my burial. Because you poor always ye have with you; but not me you always have me. "

A large number of Jews heard that Jesus was there and came, not only because of Jesus but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. The chief priests decided to kill Lazarus, for because of him many Jews were leaving them and believing in Jesus.
