Reading the Holy Gospel, Friday February 26 (click here)

 Friday, February 26
Daily Gospel (Mt 21 33-43.45-46): At that time Jesus said to the chief priests and the notables of the people: "Hear another parable. He was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a winepress in it and built a tower; He leased it to tenants and went abroad. When harvest time came, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his fruit. But the tenants seized his servants, and beat one, another killed him, stoned another. Again he sent other servants more than the first; but they were treated the same way. Finally he sent his son to them, saying, 'My son will respect him.' But the tenants saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and take over his inheritance. ' And seizing him, they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. When, then, come the owner of the vineyard, what will he do to those tenants? ".

They say to him: "Those will give them a miserable wretched death and lease his vineyard to other tenants, who will deliver the fruits in their seasons." And Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; It was the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes? That's why I say it will take away the kingdom of God to give to a people who bear fruit. "

The chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they knew he was referring to them. And they tried to arrest him, but they feared the people because they considered him a prophet.
