Reading from the Gospel daily, Thursday January 7 (click here)

  Thursday, January 7
Daily Gospel (Mt 4, 12-17.23-25): At that time, when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee. And leaving the city Nazareth, he went to live in Capernaum by the sea, in the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali. This was to fulfill what the prophet Isaiah said: "Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles. People who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and to those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness a light were born. "

From that time Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand". And Jesus walked around the whole of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness of the people. He ran his fame went throughout all Syria, and they brought all who were sick, possessed of various aches and pains, and demoniacs, and lunatics, and paralytics, and he healed them. And they were following many multitudes from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from the other side of the Jordan.
