  Daily Gospel (Jn 1, 1-18): In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. She was in the beginning with God. All were made through him and without him was made nothing that exists. In him was life, and the life was the light of men, and the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

There was a man sent from God whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to testify to the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear witness to the light. The Word was the true light that enlightens every man was coming into the world. In the world he was, and the world was made through him, and the world did not know. He came to his house, and his did not. But to all who received him he gave power to become children of God, to them that believe on his name; which he was not born of blood, nor of the will of man, but born of God.

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, glory as of the Father's only Son, full of grace and truth. John testified to him and cries out, "This was he of whom I said: He who comes after me has passed ahead of me because he existed before me." And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. God no one has ever seen God; the only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made him.
