  December 28: The Holy Innocents, martyrs
  Daily Gospel (Mt 2, 13-18): After the Wizards pulled out, the Angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph and said, "Get up, take the child and his mother and flee into Egypt; and stay there until I tell you. For Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. " He got up, took the night the child and his mother and went to Egypt; and he was there until the death of Herod; for the Lord had to be fulfilled by the prophet: "Out of Egypt I have I called my son."

Then Herod, seeing that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity two years old and under, according to the time specified by the magicians had. Through the prophet Jeremiah was then fulfilled: "A voice was heard in Ramah, wailing and loud lamentation: Rachel is weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they no longer exist."
