  Daily Gospel (Mt 1, 1-17): Book of the generation of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham: Abraham begat Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, Judah the father of Tamar, Phares and Zara, Phares begat Esrom, Esrom begat Aram, Aram begot Aminadab, Aminadab begat Naasson, Naasson father of Salmon, Salmon the father, of Rahab, Boaz, fathered Boaz, Ruth, Obed, Obed begot Jesse, Jesse begat David the king.

David was the father, which had been the wife of Uriah, Solomon, Solomon the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asaph, Asaph the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, Joram begat Uzziah Uzziah begat Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah, Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, Amon the father of Josiah, Josiah begat Jechoniah and his brothers, when the deportation to Babylon.

After the deportation to Babylon, Jechoniah fathered Salathiel, Salathiel fathered Zerubbabel, Zerubbabel fathered Abiud, Abiud fathered Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor, Azor the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Achim, Achim the father of Eliud, Eliud begat Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob, and Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus who is called Christ. So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations; from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations.
