Reading the daily Gospel, Sunday, 13 December (click here)

  Sunday, 13 December
Daily Gospel (Lk 3, 10-18): At that time, people asked John: "What then shall we do?". And he answered them: "Whoever has two cloaks should share with him who has none; who has food do likewise. " They also came to be baptized, and said, "Teacher, what should we do?". He said, "Collect no more than is appointed you." Also they asked soldiers: "And we, what should we do?". He said, "Do violence to no one, do not make false allegations, and be content with your wages."

As the people were waiting, and all were thinking in their hearts about John, whether perhaps he were the Christ; John answered them all, saying: "I baptize you with water; but he who is mightier than I, and I am not worthy to untie his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. In his hand he has the winnowing fan to clear his threshing floor and gather the wheat into his barn; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire. " And with many other exhortations, he announced the good news to the people.
