Daily Gospel reading, Monday, December 7 (click here)

  Monday, December 7
Daily Gospel (Lk 5, 17-26): One day Jesus was teaching, there were sitting Pharisees and teachers of the law who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea, and Jerusalem. The power of the Lord made him to heal. In this, men brought in a bed a paralyzed and tried to introduce, to put before him. But not finding where to put him because of the crowd, they went up to the roof, let him down with his bed through the tiles and they put in the midst before Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith, he said, "Man, your sins are forgiven."

The scribes and Pharisees began to think, "Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone? ". Jesus knew their thoughts and said, "What are you thinking in your hearts? Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise and walk'? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins, he said to the paralytic "I say to you, get up, take your mat and go home. '" And immediately he arose before them, took up that whereon he lay, and went home, glorifying God. Amazement seized them all, and they glorified God. And full of fear, saying: "We have seen incredible things."
