Reading from the Gospel, Thursday October 1 (click here)

 Thursday, October 1
Gospel (Lk 10, 1-12): At that time, the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place where he himself would come. He told them: "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest. Id; Behold I send you as lambs among wolves. Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals. And do not greet anyone on the road.

"In the house you enter, first say, 'Peace to this house'. If there be a man of peace there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. Stay in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. In the city you enter and they receive you, eat what is set before you; Heal the sick who are therein, and say: 'The kingdom of God is near you.'

"In the city you enter, and they receive you not, go out into its streets and say, 'Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off. But he knows, however, that the kingdom of God is at hand. I tell you, on that day will be more bearable for Sodom than for that city. "
