Monday, 21 September: Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist
Gospel (Mt 9, 9-13): At that time, when Jesus was going from there, passing saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and says, "Follow me." He got up and followed him. It happened while he was at table in Matthew's house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat at the table with Jesus and his disciples. Seeing the Pharisees said to his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?". But when he heard it, said, "They do not need those strong physician but those who are evil. But go and learn what this means, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners. "
