Reading from the Gospel, Friday September 4 (click here)

Liturgical Day: Friday September 4
Gospel (Lk 5, 33-39): At that time, the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law said to Jesus, "The disciples of John fast often and recite prayers, like those of the Pharisees, but thine eat and drink. " Jesus said to them, "Can ye make fast to the wedding guests while the bridegroom is with them? Days will come when they will be taken from the groom; then they will fast in those days. "

He also told them a parable: "No one tears a new dress to take a patch an old one; otherwise tear the new, and the old man would not patch again. No one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins, the wine would be spilled, and the skins would spoil; But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. No one, after drinking old wine wants the new for he says, 'The old is good.' "
