Gospel (Lk 9, 18-22): It happened that while Jesus was praying alone, the disciples were with him and asked, "Who do people say I am?". They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; others, that one of the old prophets had risen. "He said, "But who do you say that I am?". Peter answered, "The Christ of God." But he charged them vigorously to tell this to anyone. He said: "The Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised the third day."
