Reading from the Gospel, Wednesday August 5 (click here)

Liturgical Day: Wednesday August 5
Gospel (Mt 15, 21-28): At that time, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a Canaanite woman came out of that territory, cried saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is tormented by a demon. " But He did not answer her. His disciples came and begged him, "give leave, which keeps shouting after us." He replied: "I have not been sent only to the lost sheep of Israel." She, however, came and knelt before him and said, "Lord, help me." He said, "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." "Yes, Lord, 'said she, but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table." Jesus answered her, "Woman, great is your faith; happen as you want. " And from that moment her daughter was healed.
