Reading from the Gospel, Wednesday August 26 (click here)

Liturgical Day: Wednesday August 26
Gospel (Mt 23, 27-32): At that time Jesus said, "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, for you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of bones dead and everything unclean! So you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous, and say, 'If we had lived in the time of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in the blood of the prophets'. Thus you testify against yourselves that you are sons of those who killed the prophets.Well then, the measure of your fathers. "
