Reading from the Gospel, Thursday August 27 (click here)

Liturgical day: Thursday August 27
Gospel (Mt 24, 42-51): At that time, Jesus told his disciples: "Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. But know this: if the homeowner had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not let his house be broken. Therefore you also be ready, because the moment you do not expect, the Son of man cometh. Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord put in charge of his household to give them their food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master on arrival finds him doing so. I assure you that he will set him over all his hacienda. But if the evil servant that said in his heart, 'My master is delayed,' and begins to beat his fellow servants and eats and drinks with drunkards, will the lord of that servant the day he does not expect and at the time do not know, he will separate and appoint his portion with the hypocrites; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. "
