Liturgical day: Thursday August 20
Gospel (Mt 22, 1-14): In that time Jesus proposed another parable to the high priests and leaders of the people: "The kingdom of heaven is like a king who gave a feast for his son's wedding . He sent his servants to call those invited to the wedding, but they would not come. yet He sent other servants, saying to them, 'Tell those invited: Look, my banquet is ready, they have killed my oxen and fattened cattle, and everything is ready; Come to the wedding. ' But they made light of it and went, one to his farm, another to his business; and the rest seized his servants, maltreated them and killed them. The king was angry and he sent his troops, destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
"Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the main roads and those you meet, invite them to the wedding. ' The servants went out into the streets and gathered all they found, bad and good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests. King came to see the guests, and he saw there a man who had no wedding garment, says, 'Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?'. He was silent. Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many they are called, but few chosen. "
