Reading from the Gospel, Sunday August 23 (click here)

Liturgical day: Sunday August 23
Gospel (Jn 6, 60-69): At that time, many of those who until then had followed Jesus said, "This is a hard. Who can accept it? ". But Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said to them, "Does this offend you? And when you see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh is useless. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But there are some of you who do not believe. " For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who it was that would betray him. And he said: "For this I have said that no one can come to me unless it is granted the Father."

. After this many of his disciples went back and walked no more with Him Jesus then said to the Twelve: "Will you also go away?". Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we believe and know that You are the Holy One of God. "
