Reading from the Gospel, Friday August 28 (click here)

Liturgical Day: Friday August 28
Gospel (Mt 25, 1-13): At that time, Jesus told his disciples this parable: "The kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps in hand, they went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five wise. The foolish ones took their lamps, they were provided with oil; The wise, however, with their lamps took oil in their vessels. The bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. But at midnight a cry was heard: 'Now is the groom! Come out to meet him! '. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' But they replied: 'No, there is not enough for us and for you; it is better go to the dealers and buy some for yourselves. ' While they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding, and the door closed. Later came the other virgins, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us.' But he replied, 'Truly I tell you, I do not know'. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour. "
