Reading from the Gospel, Thursday, July 2 (click here)

Liturgical day: Thursday, July 2
Gospel (Mt 9, 1-8): At that time, climbing into the boat, Jesus went to the other side and came to his town. In this they brought him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "I encourage !, son, your sins are forgiven." But behold some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming." Jesus, knowing their thoughts said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? What is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise and walk'? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins then he says to the paralytic, 'Get up, take your mat and go home.' "He got up and went home. And seeing this, people feared, and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.
