Reading from the Gospel, Friday July 24 (click here)

Liturgical Day: Friday July 24
Gospel (Mt 13, 18-23): At that time, Jesus told his disciples: "You, therefore, hear the parable of the sower. When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart: this is what was sown along the path. Which was sown on rocky ground is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; but has no root in himself, but is inconstant, and when trouble or persecution comes because of the word, immediately succumbs. He that was sown among the thorns is he who hears the word, but the worries of the world and the lure of riches choke the word, and is unfruitful. But what was sown on good ground is he who hears the word and understands it himself that bears fruit and yields a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. "
