Reading from the Gospel, Friday July 17 (click here)

Liturgical day: Friday July 17
Gospel (Mt 12, 1-8): At that time, Jesus crossed the fields a Saturday. His disciples were hungry and began to pluck heads of grain and eat them. When the Pharisees saw, they said, "Look, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath." But He said, "Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those who accompanied him, how he entered the house of God and ate the bread of the Presence, which was not lawful to eat it, or his companions but only the priests? Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are guiltless? For I tell you that there is something here greater than the Temple. If you had understood what this means for: 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned those without fault. For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath. "

Your brother in Christ, Father. Santiago
