Reading from the Gospel, Wednesday June 17 (click here)

Liturgical Day: Wednesday June 17
Gospel (Mt 6,1-6.16-18): At that time, Jesus told his disciples: "Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give alms, do not trumpeted before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, to be honored by men; truly, I say to you, receive their pay. You, however, when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing; so that your alms may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret, will reward you.

"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites who love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the squares firmly planted to be seen of men; truly, I say to you, receive their pay. You, however, when you pray, go into your inner room, close the door and pray to your Father who is there, in secret; and your Father who sees in secret, will reward you.

"When you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces so that people know they are fasting; truly, I say to you, receive their pay. You, however, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting be seen, not by men but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. "

Your brother in Christ, Father Santiago
