Reading from the Gospel, Wednesday, July 1 (click here)

Liturgical day: Wednesday July 1
Gospel (Mt 8, 28-34): At that time, when Jesus arrived on the other side, to the region of the Gadarenes, there met him two possessed with devils out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that nobody could pass that way. And they cried out: "What have we with you, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time? ". There were some distance a large herd of swine feeding. And the demons begged him, "If you cast us out, send us into the herd of swine." He told them: "Go." They were gone out, they went into the swine, and suddenly the whole herd rushed down the cliff into the sea, and perished in the waters. The herdsmen fled, and came into the city and reported everything from the possessed. And behold the whole city went out to meet Jesus and, seeing him, they begged him to depart from their borders.
