Reading from the Gospel, Monday, May 25 (click here)

Liturgical day: Monday, May 25
Gospel (Mk 10, 17-27): One day Jesus was setting on the way, one ran to him and kneeling before him, asked him: "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life ? ". Jesus said, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, honor your father and your mother. " He then said, "Teacher, all these I have observed from my youth." Jesus, fixing his gaze on him, loved him and said, "You lack one thing; go, sell it that thou hast and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me. " But his face fell at these words, he went away sad, because he had many possessions.

Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!". The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus, taking back the word, said, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. " But they were astonished and said to one another: "And who can be saved?". Jesus looked at them and said: "With men it is impossible, but because everything is possible for God to God. "
