Reading from the Gospel, Monday, June 1 (click here)

Liturgical Day: Monday June 1
Gospel (Mk 12, 1-12): In that time Jesus began to speak to them in parables: "A man planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a wine press, and built a tower; he leased it to tenants, and went.

"He sent a servant to the farmers in due time to collect from them some of the fruit of the vine. They grabbed him, beat him and sent him away empty-handed. Again he sent them another servant; it will also head and treated him shamefully. And he sent another, and it killed him; and many others, beating some, and killing some. There was still a beloved son; He sent him to them last, saying, 'My son will respect him.' But those farmers said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours. ' They seized him and killed him and threw him out of the vineyard.

"What will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy those tenants and give the vineyard to others. Have you not read this Scripture: 'The stone which the builders rejected cornerstone has become; It was the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes? ''.

They tried to stop him-but they feared the people-because they understood that the parable told by them. And they left him and went.
