Reading from the Gospel, Sunday April 12 (click here)
Liturgical Day: Sunday April 12
Gospel (Jn 20, 19-31): the evening of that day, the first of the week, when closed, for fear of the Jews, the doors being shut where the disciples were, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you". Having said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples rejoiced to see the Lord. Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you ". Having said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven; who shall retain, they are retained. "
Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord." He replied: "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger in the mark of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."
Eight days later, again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them. Jesus came and stood among the doors being shut, and said, "Peace be with you." Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands; bring your hand and put it into my side, and be not faithless, but believing. " Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God." Jesus said, "Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed. "
Jesus performed in the presence of the disciples many other signs that are not written in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.
Your brother in Christ, Father Santiago
