Reading from the Gospel, Friday April 10 (click here)
Liturgical Day: Friday April 10
Gospel (Jn 21, 1-14): At that time Jesus said to the disciples again by the sea of Tiberias. He expressed this way. There were together Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They replied, 'We'll come with you. " They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
Just after daybreak, Jesus stood on the shore; but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Jesus said: "Boys, have you no fish?". They said, "No". He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find." They cast therefore, and they could not haul of fish abundance. The disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord". Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his dress -for was naked-and plunged into the sea. The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish; they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits.
Nothing came ashore, they see a charcoal fire with fish on it and bread. Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish you just caught." Simon Peter went up and dragged the net ashore, full of large fish, a hundred fifty-three. And yet so many, not the net broken. Jesus said to them, "Come and eat". None of the disciples dared ask him, "Who are you?" Knowing that it was the Lord. Comes then Jesus took the bread and gave it; and just as the fish. This was now the third time Jesus appeared to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.
