Reading from the Gospel, Wednesday March 25 (click here)

Liturgical Day: Wednesday March 25
Gospel (Lk 1, 26-38): In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David; the virgin's name was Mary. And came to her and said, "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you". She was greatly troubled at his words and pondered what sort of greeting. The angel said: "Fear not, Mary, for you have found favor with God; You will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father; He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end. "

Mary said to the angel, "How shall this be, since I am a virgin?". The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will cover you with his shadow; so who is to be born will be holy and will be called Son of God. And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren; for nothing is impossible with God. " Mary said, "Behold the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word. " And the angel left her.
