Liturgical Day: Thursday March 5
Gospel (Lk 16, 19-31): At that time Jesus said to the Pharisees: "He was a rich man who dressed in purple and fine linen and feast sumptuously every holiday. And a poor man named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, longed to eat what fell from the rich man's table, even the dogs came and licked his sores.
"It came to pass, that the beggar died and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. Being torments in Hades, he lifted his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried out, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip in water the tip of his finger and cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame.' But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that you received your good things in your lifetime while Lazarus, on the contrary, its evils; now therefore he is comforted here and you are tormented. And besides, between us and you a great chasm, so that those who would pass from hence to you can not be filed; and hence they can go where we '.
"He replied: 'But I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, for I have five brothers, to give them their testimony, lest they also come into this place of torment.' But Abraham said, 'They have Moses and the prophets; you hear them '. He said, 'No, father Abraham; but if someone from the dead goes to them, they become '. He replied, 'If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rise from the dead.' "
