Liturgical Day: Friday March 6
Gospel (Mt 21, 33-43.45-46): At that time Jesus said to the chief priests and the notables of the town: "Hear another parable. He was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a winepress in it and built a tower; leased it to tenants and went abroad. When harvest time came, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his fruit. But the tenants seized his servants, and beat one, killed him another, and stoned another. Again he sent other servants more than the first; but they were treated the same way. Finally he sent his son to them, saying, 'My son will respect you'. But the tenants saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and take over his inheritance. ' And seizing him, they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. When, then, comes the owner of the vineyard comes, what do to those tenants? ".
They answered: "To those miserable give them a miserable death, and lease the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons." And Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; was the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes? That's why I say it will take away the kingdom of God and given to a people who will produce its fruit. "
The chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they knew he was referring to them. And tried to stop him, but they feared the people because he was a prophet.
