Gospel Reading, Monday, March 30 (click here)
Liturgical Day: Monday 30 March, Easter Monday
Gospel (Jn 12, 1-11): Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. They gave him a supper. Martha served: but Lazarus was one of those who were with him at the table.
Then Mary took a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped them with her hair. And the house was filled with the smell of perfume. Judas Iscariot, one of the disciples, who had to deliver it says: "Why has not this ointment sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?". He said this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief, and had the bag, he took what was put into it. Jesus said, "Leave her alone, you keep it for the day of my burial. Because you poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always me. "
A large number of Jews heard that he was there and came, not only for him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. The chief priests decided to kill Lazarus, because on account of him many Jews were leaving them and believing in Jesus.
