Reading from the Gospel, Wednesday January 14 (click here)

Liturgical Day: Wednesday January 14
Gospel (Mk 1, 29-39): At that time Jesus from the synagogue with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon's wife's mother lay sick with a fever; and told him about her. He came and took her by the hand, lifted. The fever left her and she waited on them.

At sunset to sunset, they brought him all the sick and demon-possessed; the whole city was gathered at the door. Jesus healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And do not let the demons to speak, because they knew him.

At dawn, when it was still dark, got up, left and went to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went in search; the finding him said: "Everyone is looking for you." He tells them: "Let us go elsewhere, to the neighboring towns, that I may preach there also; for therefore came I forth. "And throughout all Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons.
