Liturgical Day: Wednesday January 7
Gospel (Mt 4, 12-17.23-25): At that time, when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee. And leaving the city Nazareth, he went to live in Capernaum, sea coast, in the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali. This was to fulfill what the prophet Isaiah said: "Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, toward the sea, the other side Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles. People who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness a light born to them. "
From that time Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near." And Jesus walked surrounding all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness of the people. He ran his fame went throughout all Syria, and brought to him all who were sick, possessed of various aches and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed them. And they were following many multitudes from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from the other side of the Jordan.
