Reading from the Gospel, Friday January 16 (click here)

Liturgical Day: Friday January 16
Gospel (Mk 2, 1-12): entered again into Capernaum; shortly after word had spread that he was at home. And so many people that even before the door had already place, and he preached the word.

And he came bringing a paralytic carried by four. When they could not come because of the crowd, they opened the roof where he was and, through the opening they let down the mat on which the paralytic lay. Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven."

Some scribes were sitting there who thought in their hearts, "Why does this man speak like that? He is blaspheming. Who can forgive sins but God alone? ". But immediately Jesus knowing in his mind what they thought inside, he says: "Why do you reason in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, Arise, take up thy bed, and walk? 'But that ye may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins says the paralytic, 'I say to you, get up, take your mat and go home.' "

He got up and immediately took the mat and went to the sight of all, so that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, "We have never seen anything like it."
