Gospel Reading Today, 05 October
Liturgical Day: Sunday, 05 October.
Gospel (Mt 21, 33-43): At that time Jesus said to the chief priests and elders of the people: "Hear another parable. He was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a winepress in it and built a tower; leased it to tenants and went abroad. When the harvest time approached, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his produce. But the tenants seized his servants, and beat one, killed him to another, and stoned another. Again he sent other servants more than the first; but they were treated in the same way. Finally he sent his son to them, saying, 'My son will respect him.'
"But the tenants saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and take over his inheritance. 'And seizing him, they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. When, then, comes the owner of the vineyard comes, what will do to those tenants? ». They say to him: 'To those miserable will give them a miserable death lease the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons. "And Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; was the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes? Therefore I say: It will take away the Kingdom of God and given to a people who will produce its fruit. "
