Today's Gospel reading, July 25

Liturgical Day: July 25, Friday
Gospel (Mt 20, 20-28): At that time Jesus went to the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her sons, and worshiped to ask you something. He said, "What do you want? '. She said to him, "Command that these two sons of mine sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom." Jesus replied: "Ye know not what ye ask. Can you drink the cup that I drink? '. They said, 'Yes, we can. "He said to them, 'Very will drink; but to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give, but for whom it is prepared of my Father. "

When the other ten heard this, they were indignant with the two brothers. But Jesus called them and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it as you dominate, and their great ones are tyrants over them. It should not be so among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave; just as the Son of man came not to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many. "

Shared by his brother in Christ, Father Santiago
