Liturgical Day: July 24, Thursday
Gospel (Mt 13, 10-17): At that time the disciples came and said to Jesus, "Why do you speak in parables? '. He answered them, "To you has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but they do not. For whoever has will be given and he will grow rich; but who has not, even what he has will be taken away. Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they see not, and hearing they do not hear or understand. In them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, 'Listen and listen but not understand, look, you will look but not see. Because it has dulled the heart of this people, have made hard their ears, and their eyes they have closed; lest they see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart and be converted, and I should heal them. '
"But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears, for they hear For I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see, and hear what you hear but did not hear it. "
