Liturgical Day: December 24, Tuesday
Gospel ( Lk 1: 67-79 ): At that time, Zechariah, John's father, was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel for he has visited and redeemed his people and has raised us a saving force in the house of his servant David, as he promised of old, by the mouth of his holy prophets, which would save us from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us doing mercy to our fathers and recalling its holy covenant and the oath he swore to our father Abraham, to grant us that, free from enemy hands, we may serve him without fear in holiness and righteousness before him all our days. And you, child, will be called prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways and give his people knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins, Through the tender mercy of our God, who will visit us light up, to shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death and to guide our feet into the way of peace."
