Gospel ( Lk 1: 57-66 ): it is time for Elizabeth to give birth, and had a son. Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown his great mercy, and they rejoiced with her. It happened on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and wanted to name it after his father Zechariah, but his mother, taking the word, I said, "No, it is to be called John."He said: " There is no one among your relatives who has that name."And they made signs to his father what he would have him called. He asked for a tablet and wrote, "His name is John."And they were all astonished. And immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue, and he spoke, blessing God. Filled with awe all its neighbors, and the whole mountain of Judea all these things were talked about, everyone who heard them laid them in his heart, saying, "Well, what will this child be?". For indeed the hand of the Lord was with him.
