Liturgical Day: November 23, Saturdays
Gospel ( Lk 20, 27-40 ): At that time Jesus approaching some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, asked him, "Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if left dying man's brother , who was married and had no children, his brother should take the wife and raise up seed to his brother. There were seven brothers; Having taken the first wife, died childless, and took second, then the third, the same way the seven died childless too. Finally, the woman died also . This, then, which one of them will be women in the resurrection? For the seven had her to wife . "
Jesus said, "The children of this world take wives and husbands, but those who are judged worthy of a place in the world and the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, nor can they die because they are like angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. Now that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he called the Lord the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. It is not God of the dead but of the living, for to him all are alive."
Some of the scribes asked him, "Teacher, you have spoken well." Well, no longer dared to ask him anything.
Your brother in Christ, Father Santiago
