Liturgical Day: November 20, Wednesday
Gospel ( Lk 19, 11-28 ): At that time Jesus was near Jerusalem and added a parable, for those who believed with him that the Kingdom of God would appear from one moment to another. He said therefore, "A nobleman went into a far country to receive the king and then return. And he called his ten servants and gave them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till again'. But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him to say: 'We do not want this man to reign over us'.
"It happened, when he returned, after receiving the royal investiture, he sent for those servants, whom he had given the money, to know what had won each. The first one came and said, 'Lord , thy pound hath gained ten pounds.'He replied: 'Very well, my good servant!, And you were faithful in the least, take charge of ten cities.' The second came and said, 'Your mina, Lord, has made five pounds.'He said this: 'Put yourself also in charge of five cities.'Wine the other and said, 'Lord, here is your mina, which I kept on a canvas, because I was afraid of you, you're a hard man, you take what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.'Said to him: 'Out of your own mouth will I judge thee, wicked servant know that I am an exacting man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping what I did not sow it, why not put my money in the bank? And so at my coming I would have received with interest'.
"And he said to the bystanders, 'Take the mina and dádsela who has ten minas.'They told him, 'Lord , he has ten pounds.' 'I tell you that to everyone who has will be given, but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away. And those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring them here and slay them before me."
And having said this he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
Your brother in Christ, Father Santiago
